New Orleans,Imaging USA and Beignets

Earlier this month I spent three days in New Orleans for Imaging USA. Yes, they had awesome classes. Yes, they had a great trade show with lots of new products to see, special deals, and a new portable light that any Star Wars fan would covet (more about that later). But the real draw for me was that I got to hang out with some family and for three days straight eat at the famous Cafe Du Monde to have the most amazing fried creation ever…beignets. BTW- next to that heaping plate of powdered sugar and fried dough is a diet Coke.

I spent last weekend on a girl’s trip. We went to Hood River, Oregon for some hiking, shopping, eating, and girl time. Here are a few pictures from the trip. This was our hike to Punchbowl Falls. Very pretty and worth the effort.

Saturday after my friend went on 22 mile training run we all shopped in downtown Hood River. This was the most awesome salad that I ate for lunch. I’m not one of those photographers who always documents their meals with a photo, but doesn’t that look good? Pears, hazelnuts, dried cranberries, gorgonzola, and raspberry vinegrette. Yummy!

Awesome Birthday Party Idea

Kelly of Create Your Own Joy Studio is now doing birthday parties and they are amazing! She does sewing and craft parties out of her sewing studio. I recently photographed three of her parties. The first was a craft party. The girls had a blast painting their pots and making flower pens. The second was a sewing party. The girls all showed up in pajamas and made pillow cases…what fun! The third was the Alice in Wonderland party that I posted earlier. It was so great having her do crafts with the girls. I was actually able to relax and take all the pictures I wanted! My daughter can’t wait until next year’s party!

The newest gallery to my website is Sopia’s Closet. A few weeks ago I photographed my friend Kelly’s sewing studio located in Chandler. One step inside her studio makes anyone want to learn how to sew. The room is full of beautiful fabrics, jars full of buttons, rows of ribbons and bins overflowing with patterns. If you like her stuff but just don’t want to make it yourself, she does sell baby blankets, aprons, etc.
